MichiganLabs is a software company located in West Michigan. As an intern at MichiganLabs, you would be working with a team developers who are excited to learn the latest technologies, develop their technical skills, and utilize those skills to provide clients with solutions that meet their needs.
Native Mobile App development is a large portion of what we do and is something we’re particularly proud of. Most of our mobile projects are built using Kotlin and Swift. In addition to mobile work, we build backend systems and websites including development in Python, Typescript, Angular and more.
How It Works

  • Our internship is paid at $18-20/hour. The average work week is 36-40 hours / week.
  • The internship will start around the first week of May and run through the first week of August (~12 weeks)
  • The internship will satisfy the co-op requirements of local colleges and universities: Grand Valley State University and the University of Michigan.

A Typical Day In the Life of an Intern

  • Our interns will be placed on a project team. You will be “in the room where it happens” and learn first-hand how a real development team works.
  • You will have a Mac computer to use and a standing desk.
  • You’ll join the daily stand-up at 9:30am and talk about what you did yesterday, what you’re going to do today and if you have any “blockers” that the team can help with.
  • Next, you’ll start coding or doing QA. For the first few weeks you’ll be working a separate branch where you can apply things you already know how to do and learn about our internal code review process. This code will give you a chance to research and test your ideas.
  • The team will provide you with feedback and ideas on how to improve. Don’t worry - the goal of the feedback is to help all of us get better. And there might be some ideas you have to share as well.
  • The goal of the internship will be to help you improve in your ability to learn new technologies and programming languages. At the end of the summer you will have made some new friends and learned a lot about professional software development. You might even have a job offer waiting for you when you graduate.

Join UsIf you’re an intern who loves to see their work being used to solve real problems and enjoys being constantly challenged, we’d love for you to join us. Fill out the form below to start the conversation. Or email careers@michiganlabs.com
